Contributions of Maulvi Khuda Bakhsh Khan to the society as a whole have been immense. To pay homage to this great soul devoted to human cause and to commemorate his remarkable contribution to the public, an Annual Award was instituted in his name in 1992.

 

Awards

 

The Khuda Bakhsh Award carries Rs.1,00,000 and a citation. It is conferred upon the scholars for their life-time achievements in the fields specified by the Library. So far Eight Awards have been conferred upon scholars for their contribution in the respective fields. These are -

  • Dr. B. N. Pande - Composite Culture of India

  • Dr. Anwar Jamal Kidwai - National Integration

  • Mrs. Subhadra Joshi - Composite Culture of India

  • Professor Nazir Ahmad - Persian Language & Literature

  • Professor S. A. H. Abidi - Persian Language & Literature

  • Professor Irfan Habib - Indian History & Culture

  • Professor Jagtar Singh Grewal - Sufism

  • Late Professor Abdul Haleem Nadvi - Arabic Language & Literature

These awards were conferred by the President of India at the Rastrapati Bhawan, New Delhi and Raj Bhawan, Patna.

   
Research Facility
Khuda Bakhsh Library has emerged as an outstanding research library over the years. To speed up the pace of research by scholars, the Library has created fellowships at par with those of UGC and ICHR for the the students of Ph.D/D.Litt. and the University or College Professors.

  The Library has been recognised as a Research Centre for award of Ph.D./D. Litt. Degree by seven universities in India.
