ASTROLABE, NOT SIGNED, NOT DATED
This is also a medium sized well-crafted astrolabe, most likely produced
in the seventeenth century in the workshop of the Lahore family. It has
a diameter of 204 mm and thickness of 13 mm. The kursi is solid and
not very high. There are eight plates serving the latitude 210
- 240, 260 - 270, 290
- 320, 340 - 360, 280
– double projection, 300, double projection; two special
projections; ecliptic coordinates – horizons. There is a geographical
gazetteer of 82 towns. The ‘Ankabut has 45 stars, which are
joined by a floral tracery. |
